Blue Bay dive center is located on the shore of a scenic sand-covered bay of Croatia. The Island of Pag is easily accessible from Hungary or even from western-european countries, because, starting from the north, it’s the third island after Krk and Cres. Our dive center is situated int he middle of the 5 km long holiday village Stara Novalja, behind green hills, protected from the winds.
A bright sign shows the entrance of the dive center. A spacious parking spot connected to the dive center offers ample space for the cars of the divers inside our premises.
The dive center reception is open every day from 7 am until 7 pm, and awaits scuba divers in English, German, Croatian and Hungarian. Take a rest on our shady garden terrace between dives, enjoy a shower and some fresh water.
The mini-supermarket for buying your daily refreshments, fruits or sandwiches is only 100 meters away. For a full meal, our divers can visit the Árka Restaurant, next to our dive center. For those travelling with a computer, the dive center offer cheap internet access on the spot.
The 7.5m long Valiant boat was built in 2011 in a portugese shipyard. The boat has enough rooms for 12 divers, carries a built-in oxygen-kit, and sufficent number of life jackets. A special boat ladder helps the divers to climb on board easily even when the waves are fairly high.
Thanks to the preferences of the boat, it remains stable during the whole trip, even at medium-sized waves. The brand new 250HP Yamaha engine will make sure the boat reaches even the furthest dive sites in 6-8 minutes from the diving center’s own harbour. The boat has built-in headlights, to enable night boat dives.
Blue Bay-II is a 6.25 metres (cca 20 feet) long Tempest RIB, bought by Blue Bay dive center in August 2005. The boat is equipped for the transport of 12 divers and 12 well-secured scuba gears. The 2005-built lightweight boat with a 115 HP Yamaha engine carries divers and equipment with a considerable speed - so even the furthest dive sites, on the other side of the island, can be reached in a few minutes. Just like Blue Bay I, its younger brother is, naturally, equipped with oxygen unit and life jackets. This rubber boat is very seaworthy, being able to transport divers even in bigger waves, so no dives would have to be cancelled ever again.
The fast and silent filling is guaranteed by our L&W 450 Silent compressor. Every one of our divers recieve one of the 40 12L tanks, each of them filled with 200 bars pressure. The nitrox-filling is made by another (160 litres) L&W compressor. With this set of compressors the dive center can smoothly operate even when the diving base runs with full capacity, that is, with 44 scuba divers.
The divers can put their own or rented equipment in a nametagged box in our storage building. Closed with railing, the storage room keeps your equipment safe and still let it dry with fresh air floating freely. Our divers can have a freshwater shower right next to our storage building. In the 1 m3 fresh-water basin next to it you can rinse your complete scuba equipment and wetsuit then put them on one of our 3, specially designed hangers and let them dry inside out. Weights and weight-belts are stored in numbered boxes on the wall of our port. Thus, your weights will be very close to the dive boat and you don"t have to carry them far before and after the dives. The divers can park their cars next to the storage building, so no visitor of the Blue Bay diving center has to carry their equipment.
The dive center boasts a small private port with a pier so you won"t have to carry your whole diving equipment more than, yes!, 10 metres - thus preparation before dives become shorter and less exhausting, while the time you can spend with friends and relatives will be longer. Empty tanks and lead weights can be left down at the pier, which makes cleaning up even more comfortable for all guests of the dive center.
To make our divers" courses easier for the dive instructors and to provide scuba instructing of better quality as well as more enjoyable, we have constructed an underwater platform of 9 square metres for our divers (approx. 100 square feet) 3 metres under the surface. Thus, dive students don"t have to train in the whirling sand. Attached to the platform you will find a diving buoy, 1m in diameter, with handles and spare weights, floating on the surface for the sake of dive students" safety and proper descent. The height and the legs of the platform are built in a fashion so it could be used as a substitute to the indoor (swimming pool) part of closed-space diving courses.
