Dive Sites

Most of the dive sites we visit are along the Northern walls of the 25km long Lun peninsula. The rock walls continue underwater, sometimes to a depth of 90 metres. Additional dive sites are to be found at the Southern part of the isle of Rab and along the Northern and Eastern side of Pag. All of the dive sites that can be reached from Blue Bay dive center are very rich in comparison to the overall Adriatic, they are top-category scuba destinations in Croatia.

Underwater vegetation is abundant as one can see on the pictures above and in the Gallery. The walls, full of crevices and caverns, are ornamented with various types of sponges, soft corals and gorgonians - so bright scuba torches are recommended even when diving at daylight.

The underwater animal kingdom has a lot to offer, too at the dive sites offered by Blue Bay dive center. Meeting large schools of fish is a common experience any time you dive but we often see octopus, stonefish and sea spiders as well. Observant divers will be able to enjoy the great variety of local macro life as well.. Our Gallery features some of the regional specialities.

Luckily, there are some interesting shipwrecks on the menu, so we can offer excitement to scuba divers with this special interest, too. Most of these wrecks lay in the depth of 25-38 metres, but the dive center can show wrecks to qualified deep divers, too. You will find more photos of wrecks in the Gallery.

One of the dive sites is a small cave, or rather, a cavern. A wide passage that opens 10m underwater leads up to the surface inside the rock. There it parts in three directions. Huge stalactites, coloured by minerals dissolved in the course of millions of years, hang from the ceiling of the central room and the three passages. There are some other caves to be found in greater depths, which are not connected to the surface in any way. Divers penetrating these caves will find various coloured spongiforms growing from the walls.

A rare treat in the Adriatic, we can dive a field of amphorae, explored in international collaboration a few years ago. Although the ancient wooden ship itself has completely decayed, the whole load of amphorae survived almost intact for us, scuba divers, to admire. The field is protected by railing, to save it for the future, so that it would remain an exciting feature of Pag dives for many more years. Blue Bay dive center disposes of the permissions required for diving this special site.
